Cuisine

Padang food is quite popular in Indonesian cuisine and it is easily found in every corner of this vast archipelago. The food is renowned for its delicious taste and for the very hot spices. The most interesting or sought after dishes can be laid out on the table in a matter of minutes. That can mean up to thirty plates with different cuisines. However, here people only pay for the dishes they eat from but the choice is incredible.

There are all kinds of food available in West Sumatra, both light and heavy foods can be found in Padang. Some specific cuisines are famous in this region such as Rendang, Dendeng, Gulai Padeh, Pangek, Kalio, Panggang Lauak, Cancang, Gajebo, Gulai Tunjang, Kripik Balado, Lamang Tapai, Kolak, Cindua, Guljar and many others.
